React renders - do they matter?

React can be tricky to optimize. The issue is that component props are compared by reference, not value. This is intentional – this way rendering can be cheap to run. However, this makes it easy to accidentally cause unnecessary renders, making the app slow. Even in production apps, with hundreds of engineers, can't fully optimize their apps.

In this talk, Aiden will dive into React performance and demo React Scan to detect performance issues and highlight renders that cause performance issues.

About the Speaker

Aiden cares too much about React performance and spent the last 4 years building tooling to make your website fast.
